LOCATION RECORDING.
The natural sound of your performance, captured in the space where it belongs.
Classical music recording requires an approach that respects the relationship between musicians, instruments and acoustics.
Rather than imposing a particular sound, our aim is to preserve the tonal character, musical balance, dynamic range and sense of space that make each performance distinctive. We do this through experience, coupled with beautiful microphones and preamps.
Recording in your chosen venue
We bring our professional recording equipment to concert halls, churches, rehearsal rooms and other suitable acoustic spaces.
Each project is planned around the music, ensemble size and characteristics of the venue.
Soloists and piano
From solo strings and wind instruments to grand piano and voice, we offer carefully planned recording sessions suitable for artistic, promotional and audition purposes.
Chamber ensembles
For duos, trios, string quartets and larger chamber groups, we use stereo and supplementary microphone techniques appropriate to the ensemble.
The emphasis is on musical interaction, natural balance and a convincing stereo image.
Orchestral performances
For chamber orchestras and larger ensembles, we plan the recording around the venue, stage layout and available access.
Main stereo microphone arrangements may be supplemented with additional microphones where appropriate.
Editing and delivery
Following the recording, we can provide agreed editing, mixing and final audio preparation.
We can mix your performance at our acoustically treated studio. Once mixed we send your files to be finalised & mastered by the UK's no1 mastering engineer, Pete Maher.
Deliverables may include high-resolution audio files, finished performance tracks and formats suitable for online publication or archive.
Plan your recording
Tell us about your ensemble, repertoire, venue and proposed date, and we will recommend an appropriate recording approach.
